7. Dress for Success
Let's face it, those heavy cotton pants and long-sleeved polos might offer some sun protection, but they'll also leave you feeling like a walking sauna. Ditch the bulky clothes and opt for lightweight, breathable fabrics. Think moisture-wicking polos and shorts that allow for air circulation.
Pro tip: Look for clothes with built-in UPF protection for an extra layer of defense against the sun's harsh rays. Remember, you're aiming for comfort and sun safety, not a fashion show — although a little style never hurts.
6. Hydration is Your New Best Friend
Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink? That's a recipe for disaster on a hot day. Dehydration is a sneaky enemy that can zap your energy, mess with your focus, and leave you feeling like you're swinging a tree trunk instead of a golf club.
Here's the deal: Don't wait until you're parched to start guzzling down fluids. Pack a reusable water bottle (bonus points for one that keeps it icy cold!) and sip on it regularly throughout the round. Aim for more than just a few gulps at each water station – consistent hydration is key.

5. Embrace the Power of Shade
The sun is a glorious orb, sure, but on a scorching day, it can be your worst nightmare. Seek out shade whenever possible. Time your tee times for the cooler mornings or evenings if you can.
Walking the course? Utilize any shade provided by trees, cart paths, or even your trusty umbrella. Remember, a little shade goes a long way in preventing heatstroke and keeping your energy levels up.
4. Pack a Summer Survival Kit

3. Refuel Smart (No, Not with Hot Dogs)
2. Listen to Your Body
This one's simple: If you're feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or excessively fatigued, don't be a hero. Take a break, find some air conditioning, and rehydrate. Pushing yourself too hard in the heat can lead to serious health problems.
Remember, it's okay to call it a day and come back another time when the weather is more forgiving.

Summer Golfing FAQ
What if I forget sunscreen?
Don't be a hero! Most courses have pro shops that sell sunscreen. Ask around and see if you can snag a small bottle to tide you over.
Can I drink sports drinks instead of water?
While sports drinks can be helpful for replenishing electrolytes lost through sweat, water should still be your primary source of hydration. Sports drinks can be sugary, so consume them in moderation.
What are some signs of heatstroke?
If you experience severe headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, or confusion, seek medical attention immediately. These could be signs of heatstroke, a serious medical condition.

Baseball style hats are almost useless. Better to wear a broad brimmed hat that protects the face, ears, AND back of the neck. Pick a hat with the widest possible brim. Who cares if it looks a bit weird. Scars from skin cancer surgery are not attractive either. It’s your choice. “Style” or safety.
